Hippie Chick is THE ORIGINAL all-women’s race!  In 2023, we are returning to the birthplace of this great event at Champoeg State Park (commonly pronounced sham-POO-ee). What a perfect time and the perfect setting to run and walk…MOTHER’S DAY WEEKEND!! HIPPIE HALF 2023 Information: Race Date: Saturday, May 13th, 2023. Location: Riverside Day Use Area, Champoeg State Park, OR

  • 7:30 AM: Hippie Kid Fun Run*
  • 8:00 AM: Half Marathon Start
  • 8:00 AM: Quarter Marathon Start
  • 8:30 AM – 12:30PM: Beer Garden, Post Race Food, Music!

REGISTRATION FEES: Includes a finsher medal, Hippie Chick Commemorative Necklace, and technical race tee.

  • $139 (January 1st-Race Day*)

CHOOSE YOUR DISTANCE: Not sure if you want to do the Quarter or the Half? Don’t worry-you can make changes up until race day for no charge. To make changes to your race distance, please visit your active.com account.

HIPPIE KID FUN RUN: This will be an approximately 1/2 mile race. Adults are welcome to advise, coach, and guide all the racers. The race in intended for ages 7 and under. The Hippie Kid’s Run will finish through the official Hippie Half finish line!

RACE COURSE: Champoeg State Park is primarily bike path and park road. Most of the route is flat and scenic. The Half and Quarter races share the first 6.5 miles. Hydration stations along the route are stocked with water and sports drink (NUUN) but we are also encouraging everyone to bring their own hydration devices! Stations will be located at the following miles marks:

  • Half Marathon: 1.4*, 3.4, 5.4*, 6.5*, 8*, 10*, 12*
  • Quarter: 1.4, 3.4*, 5.4*

HIPPIE CHICK TRAINING CLUB!

Whether your goal is to get fit, stay fit, get faster, get stronger, cross the finish line, make new friends, or just learn a few new things, joining a group helps with accountability and accountability is what gets you to the finish line.  It takes courage to join a group and to start something new. We are excited to meet you and help you succeed. We are a positive, encouraging and supportive group, so get ready to meet some amazing new friends!

This group is for all abilities and everyone is welcome!  Together we will train (mostly) at Portland Running Company in Beaverton but we will have other options and adventures along the way.  Our eleven week program includes coaching, store discounts, seminars, and a training program that leads you to the Hippie Chick Half/Quarter Marathon on May 13, 2023.

This program does not include registration into the Hippie Chick Half Marathon so please register separately for the Hippie Chick Half/Quarter Marathon. Each group will have a Mentor to assist. Our group meets on Saturday at 8:300am sharp! Please come ready to run or walk.  We will host a short seminar before each training walk or run and we will have coffee and snacks afterwards. Cost for the entire program is just $195!

 

 

Race Registration

Individuals may register for the half marathon,  or quarter marathon. All registrations can be submitted online at active.com (follow the link above). Registration includes an awesome Hippie Chick Technical Race Tee, a commemorative race medal, and a goodie bag packed with great gifts from our sponsors.

Race Packets

Packet pick up begins on Thursday, May 11th from 10am-6pm at Portland Running Company in Beaverton. Packet pick up continues Friday from 10a-3p at PRC Beaverton and then resumes race day at the park at 6:45am.

RACE DAY

Packet pick up starts at 6:45am. Parking is limited so please consider carpooling. There is a $5 Parking Fee. Passes may be purchased at packet pick up. Gear Check will be available near the start/finish. Our courses are super accurate, fully supported with amazing volunteers, have plenty of portable toilets and hydration stations including water and NUUN Sports drink, and will be monitored by our course captains.

1/2 Marathon

The Original 13.1 Mile Race – flat, fast, scenic, park setting on bike paths and park roads.

1/4 Marathon

6.55 Mile Run/Walk – a RWP original-because a quarter marathon just makes sense!

The Half and Quarter Marathon both start and finish at the Riverside Day Use Area in Champoeg State Park. Both races share the first 6.5 miles. At the Quarter Marathon finish line, half marathoners will make a quick turn around to begin their second loop. This is a great time to high five, to celebrate the finish or the half way point, and it’s the perfect spectator spot.

Where do we like to eat? The Old Spaghetti Factory! If you want to maximize your training efforts, and have the best race day possible, you have to start with an awesome nutritional plan. The Old Spaghetti factory is our top choice for our pre-race meals (and it’s a great choice every other day of the year as well). Paula’s favorite is their traditional spaghetti with marinara. Dave is a huge fan of the lasagna. Let OSF fuel your next race effort!

Something For Everyone!

The Hippie Chick Event is focused on you, our fellow hippie chick runners and walkers. Some racers will take this seriously and try to win the whole thing, but most of us will do Hippie Chick for the fun, fitness, and festivities. Along with walking and running, there will be dancing, there will be eating, and yes, there will be a costume contest. For many of you true hippies, just come and peace out in your usual gear-we’ll find you.

Over the past few years, for many people, focusing on exercise and fitness took a back seat to the bigger health picture BUT we think exercise and fitness is THE BIG PICTURE. So, for those of you who have dusted off your high school PE uniforms, and broken out your old sneakers to give running or walking a second chance, Welcome Back! Peace. Love. Race.
